Bryce Harper is trying to lure another superstar to Philadelphia.
Shortly after the former MVP signed a record 13-year, $330 million contract to join the Phillies, Harper responded to a congratulatory message from running back Le’Veon Bell by recruiting the soon-to-be free agent to join the Eagles.
“Aye come join us,” Harper wrote. “Let’s take this city by storm. Bring as many titles as we can to the greatest city in the world. Brother Love. #SecureTheBag”
Bell responded with an emoji, suggesting he would think about the proposal.
But unlike the Phillies, the Eagles aren’t free to spend as much as they please, and are currently projected to be over next year’s salary cap. Bell, who held out all of last season with the Steelers, is reportedly seeking at least $50 million guaranteed in his first two years with his new team. Harper, of course, has the benefit of playing baseball, with a fully guaranteed contract.
