In an interview to Tennis World USA, the 1996 Wimbledon winner Richard Krajicek commented on Novak Djokovics chances to overtake Roger Federer and Rafa Nadals Slams hauls. The Dutch is confident about the Serbs chances.
If Novak keeps playing like he did in Australia, this is definitely possible. If he stays fit and focused, he has the possibility, said Krajicek. Who between will win a Grand Slam first? It will be close, it is very hard to predict.
I definitely think they will both win a Grand Slam. A few weeks ago the Rio Open Tournament Director Luiz Carvalho said that they tried to bring in Alexander Zverev, but he said that Sascha has a sort of contract, formal agreement with Rotterdam, that is directed by Krajicek because they bet on him when he was just 16 years old.
We always invite young players on a wildcard of whom we believe they might grow into the future stars. We did this with Federer at the age of 17, Dimitrov at 18 and Zverev as well. We try to build a relationship with the younger stars, so the feel at home at the tournament and want to come back once they are the top of the world.
Gael Monfils won the 2019 ABN Amro Open in Rotterdam. The Frenchman defeated Swiss Stan Wawrinka in the final in three sets 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to win his eighth career title in his 28th final.
