Eagles (+6) over BEARS: I’m betting with my head instead of my heart here, as I’m a lifelong Bears fan. The Bears should have rolled over last week so they could face the Vikings again in this round. Instead, this is a much tougher spot against a defending Super Bowl-champion team that is rejuvenated again behind backup QB Nick Foles. The Bears still have the better team, but the Eagles’ recent momentum (and they certainly believe they can repeat) has me objectively saying this line shouldn’t be more than a field goal, so the value play is on the Eagles.
Seahawks (+1¹/₂) over COWBOYS: I don’t put much stock in “revenge” — I prefer that the Seahawks dominated the Cowboys, 24-13, in Week 3 with Dallas’ only TD coming in garbage time. The Seahawks’ top-ranked rushing offense (Chris Carson had 102 yards in first meeting) will again set up Russell Wilson’s play-action while the defense takes away Ezekiel Elliott and makes Dak Prescott try to beat them with his arm (Elliott ran for 127 yards in Week 3, but it still didn’t help Prescott against the Seattle defense). And I’ll take Seattle coach Pete Carroll over Dallas’ Jason Garrett any day of the week.
