Chad Kelly pleaded not guilty Monday to one of the odder NFL arrests in memory.
The former Broncos quarterback is facing criminal trespassing charges for allegedly breaking into a Colorado home. He was then chased out by the owner, who beat him with a vacuum cleaner tube, according to TMZ Sports.
If convicted, Kelly could end up in prison for up to three years and have to pay a $100,000 fine.
Kelly, 24, left Von Miller’s Halloween party on Oct. 22, and then allegedly entered the home while dressed as a cowboy. According to police, he sat down on the couch next to a woman who was holding her baby, and Kelly began speaking incoherently. After the vacuum cleaner tube got Kelly out of the home, he was found by police near his SUV.
Shortly after the arrest, Kelly, the nephew of Bills icon Jim Kelly, was released by the Broncos and has remained unsigned.
