GALWAY HAVE WITHDRAWN a motion that sought to allow the county’s minor, U-21, and intermediate hurling teams compete in the Leinster provincial championship.

Galway County Board chairman Pat Kearney withdrew the motion after receiving assurances that the GAA will set-up a workgroup to help them tackle the problem after Congress concludes.

“We don’t want to be divisive,” said Kearney, as he addressed the room in Croke Park.

“We hope we’ll be talking with everyone and moving this on together in the next couple of weeks.”

The GAA President Aogan O Fearghail commended Kearney for the decision and assured him that the association will play their part in addressing the situation Galway and Antrim find themselves in.
