Pat Shurmur will need to find a new defensive backs coach.
His now former one, valued assistant coach Lou Anarumo, is leaving to be the Bengals’ defensive coordinator.
“I’ve always had great respect for Lou, and I know he is a tremendous defensive coach,” new Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said in a statement. “He’s a great fit for what we want to build here at Cincinnati. Lou is an excellent communicator who the players will have great respect for, and he will get the best out of them.”
Anarumo, 52, worked side by side with Taylor in Miami. He spent one year on the Giants’ staff after being with the Dolphins the previous six years.
Anarumo has never been a full-time defensive coordinator in the NFL, though he did serve as one for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy from 1992–1994.
