The big, blue light show over the New York City sky Thursday night certainly got the attention of the Big Blue players.
Several Giants stars weighed in on Twitter after a Con Edison transformer in Queens blew up in the early evening Thursday and treated the city to a strange display of flashing lights that resembled an electrical storm — or potentially aliens.
Rookie Pro Bowler Saquon Barkley was among the first to chime in, wondering what was going on or whether he was just seeing things.
“What just happened to the sky in New York …” Barkley wrote on Twitter, “or am I tripping!??”
Inside linebacker Tae Davis responded to the running back’s tweet, commenting: “Thought i was tripping too..”
What would cause a pair of Giants players to wonder if perhaps they were experiencing massive hallucinatory visions is probably a question better left to coach Pat Shurmur.
Backup running back Orleans Darkwa had a simpler explanation, writing, “Thanos back in NY!?”
The light show may not have been caused by Thanos, but the 5-10 Giants still may want to look into adding an Avenger to get back into playoff contention next year.
