Now that the Jets have their head coach in Adam Gase, Jamal Adams has begun giving his opinions on potential free agents.
The Pro Bowl safety seemed impressed with Chiefs linebacker Dee Ford with the Jets in desperate need of a pass rusher. Ford, whose contract is up at the end of the season had a strip sack of Colts quarterback Andrew Luck during the Chiefs’ 31-13 victory over the Colts in their AFC divisional playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.
“Yeah I like #55 Dee Ford off that end for us! Let’s pay him what he wants!” Adams wrote on Twitter.
The Jets are expected to be upwards of $100 million under the salary cap this offseason. Ford is making nearly $9 million this season, but is in the midst of a breakout year. The former first-round pick recorded a career-high 13 sacks, 55 combined tackles and seven forced fumbles during the regular season. The Chiefs could put the franchise tag on Ford.
