Lori Loughlin now faces a maximum of 40 years in prison for her involvement in the college admission cheating scandal. She and her husband Mossimo Giannulli are accused of paying $500,000 to make it appear that their daughters Isabella and Olivia Jade were rowing team recruits to guarantee their admission to USC. Why did she get into this mess? People got a lot of intel from a family source on how obsessed Loughlin was with getting her daughters into the prestigious university.
“Lori is used to getting what she wants,” the family source told the outlet. “This is why she got in trouble in the first place. She got fixated on getting her girls into USC. For her, there was no other way. They needed to be at USC. It was very important for her to be able to say that her girls were at USC.”
This wasn’t as much for them (Olivia Jade notoriously made it clear in her YouTube videos she had little interest in school) as much as it was for her. “It was absolutely a status thing,” the family source said. “And the fact that she wanted the girls to have things that she never had growing up.” Loughlin didn’t attend college.
The source added that Loughlin “always had a very special relationship” with Olivia Jade and Isabella. “Olivia seems more independent than Bella though. And Olivia absolutely has had more to lose with the USC scandal. Lori likes things to be perfect though. Any kind of conflict was always hard for her. But Olivia has lost a lot.”
Meanwhile, Us Weekly reported that Olivia Jade is out there, just trying to live her life and get back on her feet. Olivia Jade went to a party with friends and was “drinking, laughing and stayed out late,” the source said. (Olivia Jade has been staying with her boyfriend Jackson Guthy rather than her parents.)
“Olivia is focusing all her time on hanging with her friends, a lot of whom are social media influencers and internet stars, and she’s been filming some content with them,” Us’s source said. “She’s trying to live her life normally again.”
