Mumbai came to a standstill on Wednesday as Maratha Kranti Morcha protests took place all over the city.
Many roads were seen empty as elaborate security arrangements were made throughout, and citizens chose to stay home. Large-scale violence marred the protests by Maratha outfits demanding a quota for the community in Maharashtra on Tuesday, a day after the death of a protester. Sakal Maratha Samaj, another Maratha outfit called for a bandh today in Navi Mumbai and Panvel as well.
Protester Kakasaheb Shinde (27) had jumped to death from a bridge over the Godavari in Aurangabad on Monday.
Stone-pelting and arson were reported from several parts of the state, which remained on edge on Tuesday. Areas of Dadar, Panvel, Dahisar and Navi Mumbai were seen with heavy security. Eastern Express highway and the highway near Kandivali area in Mumbai were blocked out by agitators. Agitators clashed with the police and torched vehicles at several places, while Internet services were suspended in rural areas of Aurangabad district.Click Here: geelong cats guernsey 2019
