After No Mercy, WWE’s next Raw pay-per-view will be their annual Tables, Ladders, & Chairs event. Names such as John Cena and Brock Lesnar are likely not going to be appearing on the show, so it looks like the company has come up with a completely different main event. Sportskeeda is reporting that The Miz is currently scheduled to defend his Intercontinental Championship in a multi-man match in the main event of the show. If this does not happen, Jeff Hardy will likely challenge Miz for the title, and the main event will be a singles match that determines who will challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.
Rey Mysterio is currently a free agent after leaving Lucha Undergound. He was reportedly in negotiations to return to WWE or debut for GFW. WWE reportedly decided not to offer Rey Mysterio a new contract, and as for GFW, those talks are believed to be over, but not completely dead. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Mysterio is asking for $10,000 per match. For this reason, companies such as Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling have hesitated to bring him in due to his high price tag. Rey Mysterio could continue working in Mexico, but most of the major wrestling promotions are apparently not willing to pay $10,000 for each match Mysterio works.
Along with Melina, Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro were one of the hottest teams in WWE about a decade ago. Joey Mercury eventually returned to WWE and became a backstage producer before returning to the indies earlier this year. Johnny Nitro’s ring name was changed to John Morrison, and he saw great mid-card success in WWE before reemerging as a world champion on the independent circuit as Johnny Mundo. Though the two team members have not wrestled together in a while, that all changed at a recent All Pro Wrestling event. Johnny Mundo and Joey Mercury finally reunited their old MNM team (sans Melina) for the first time in over a decade during the show.
