It almost certainly means nothing, but Odell Beckham Jr. expressing his appreciation for Tom Brady certainly comes at a curious time.
A few days after The Athletic’s Jay Glazer predicted the star Giants wide receiver would be traded this offseason — to which Beckham then appeared to react with a couple of cryptic emojis — the $95 million man moved into Brady’s Instagram comments.
On Saturday, the Patriots quarterback, fresh off another Super Bowl win, shared a photo of his children enjoying a sunset together. Apparently inspired, Beckham wanted in on the family love.
“Love u brother,” Beckham wrote, to the delight of Patriots fans who screengrabbed the remark and let their minds run wild.
The Beckham speculation has picked up since Glazer’s prediction — an admittedly bold one — in an offseason in which Giants GM Dave Gettleman already indicated Beckham would return. The Giants signed him to a deal that could be worth as much as $95 million before last season, which was a 5-11 disaster.
“We didn’t sign him to trade him, if that’s what you’re asking,” Gettleman said early last month.
