Rob Gronkowski’s future is on the clock.
The tight end’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, revealed on “NFL Live” this week Gronkowski will decide whether he will hang up his cleats for good in the “next couple of weeks.”
“He’s thinking it through, he’s giving it a lot of thought…” Rosenhaus said.
While Gronkowski, 29, was the life of the party during the Patriots’ victory parade in Boston following their 13-3 victory over the Rams in Super Bowl 53, the road to the Lombardi Trophy was anything but smooth.
After the Philadelphia Eagles topped New England, 41-33, in last year’s Super Bowl, Gronkowski mulled retirement. The five-time Pro Bowler was reportedly shopped three days ahead of the NFL draft last April. Gronkowski is also said to have threatened retirement after the Detroit Lions tried to acquire him via trade.
Gronkowski was not the weekly regular-season force he has been in past seasons, but he re-emerged for 12 catches and 166 yards in the AFC title-game win over the Chiefs and Super Bowl against the Rams.
As for Gronkowski’s current status, he seems to be enjoying the offseason with his favorite plus one, girlfriend Camille Kostek.
