Rob Ryan, the brash, long-haired, blitz-happy brother of former Jets and Bills coach Rex, may be getting another shot in the NFL as an assistant coach.

The Bears have an opening at linebacker coach and are considering Ryan, the Chicago Tribune reported. The Bears featured the premier defense in the NFL in 2018 and are breaking in a new coordinator in Chuck Pagano after Vic Fangio left to become the Broncos coach.

Ryan served as his brother’s assistant head coach for the Bills in 2016.

Ryan has been out of the NFL the last two years after he was fired with brother Rex by the Bills, but perhaps becoming a position coach for one of the NFL’s premier defenses can be his launching pad back to relevance.
