As noted, John Cena hyped the fact that SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan have “something big in store” for tonight’s show, as to not be “out-done” by Stephanie McMahon, Mick Foley and Monday night’s jam-packed edition of WWE RAW.

Cena posted the following, with Shane McMahon chiming in a few hours later to make an actual announcement.

Shane McMahon then announced that a new number one contender to WWE Champion Dean Ambrose will be decided on tonight’s show, which is essentially the first regular episode of the show, not counting last Tuesday’s WWE Draft special premiere, since the company underwent there heavily promoted brand extension. Whether Shane’s announcement, which you can view below, is related to the tease Cena posted this morning remains to be seen.
