You probably haven’t thought about stepping foot in a Kohl’s store since leaving high school, but now you have a good reason to return. Beginning this coming holiday season, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are bringing their label Elizabeth and James to 1,150 Kohl’s stores nationwide.
The label the child stars founded in 2007 was previously sold exclusively at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Ave and Net-a-Porter, but closed up shop in fall 2018. According to Business of Fashion, now Elizabeth and James has “entered a licensing deal with Kohl’s” in which the Olsen twins will have a hand in the design process, but the retail giant will be responsible for creating all forthcoming collections for the brand.
“We have always seen Elizabeth and James speaking to a much larger audience and this new business model with Kohl’s will allow us to achieve that,” Ashley Olsen said in a statement. “Mary-Kate and I are excited to work with them building out additional lifestyle categories and curating spaces that will bring a new shopping experience to our customer.”
Kohl’s will exclusively sell Elizabeth and James clothing and accessories, while fragrances will continue to be sold at the aforementioned retailers. The Olsen twins didn’t divulge whether the move to Kohl’s will alter the brand’s pricing, but Doug Howe, Kohl’s chief merchandising officer, said Elizabeth and James will be “sophisticated” and “modern” and “accessible.” He added: “The addition of the esteemed Elizabeth and James brand and its elevated design aesthetic builds on our continued work to evolve our brand portfolio and deliver a strong pipeline of new offerings.”
Elizabeth and James joins Kohl’s star-studded roster, which includes Lauren Conrad and Vera Wang’s namesake labels.
