WWE announced their latest Network subscriber count on Monday after the anticipated uptick for WrestleMania 32.
– Total paid subscribers as of Monday was 1.454 million.
WWE is headlining with a total of 1.824 million paid and free trial subscribers. That indicates 370,000 free trial subscribers, or 20 percent of the total.
– The total number of domestic paid subscribers is down from last year. Domestic paid after WM32 is 1.109 million compared to 1.123 million after WM31.
– The total paid subscriber count of 1.454 million is up 11 percent from 1.315 million after WM31 last year.
The concern for investors – as evidenced by the stock falling after the news release and conference call at 3:00 p.m. EST – is whether WWE will retain free trial subscribers after WrestleMania, especially when domestic paid subscribers was down from WM31 to WM32.
Also, if WWE can maintain this year’s overall growth since The Churn was a significant factor after last year’s WrestleMania.
“History was made last night with both a record-setting crowd at AT&T Stadium and more households than ever before watching WrestleMania on WWE Network,” said WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon in a press release. “WWE Network continues to drive transformative growth for our company.”
“Results today further demonstrate the power of our brand, illustrate our potential to drive long-term growth and provide evidence that we are effectively executing our multi-platform content strategy,” said George Barrios, WWE Chief Strategy & Financial Officer.
