Tonight’s episode of SmackDown LIVE opens up with a look at Becky Lynch’s Royal Rumble Performance and her confrontation with WrestleMania 35 Opponent RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey on last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW.
We are live from The Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona as Tom Phillips welcomes us to the show. He is joined by Corey Graves & Byron Saxton.
We go right to the ring and out comes Becky Lynch. She takes the mic as fans chant her name.
She says that a lot has happened over the last few days and she couldn’t resist heading to RAW to look Ronnie in her angry little eyes. She also says that it only took her two seconds to see how different they are, because unlike Ronda, she doesn’t crumble when she loses, so she went out after losing her title match and won The Royal Rumble on just one good leg. Lynch then says that arrogant Rousey wants to talk about her working her way up like it is something to be ashamed of, but she is proud of the work she had to put in to get here.
Lynch then says that she is most proud of working her way from The Pre-Show of last year’s WrestleMania to this year’s main event and nobody handed her nothing. But the main thing she saw in Ronnie’s eyes last night is something she doesn’t have anymore and that is doubt. Lynch then says that she is going to break Ronda’s arm at WrestleMania and if Rousey doesn’t walk in knowing that, she is gonna walk out feeling it.
Charlotte Flair then makes her entrance. She mock claps and congratulates Becky for making it off The Kickoff and says that she must be ecstatic. Charlotte then says that she is proud of Lynch, seriously, she loves it, but on Sunday she wasn’t even in The Rumble but she willed her way in and won, so maybe she learned something from Flair. Charlotte then says that she grew to be The Man because of the lessons learned from The Queen.
Charlotte then says that it was her that brought Lynch to the main event and she is happy that she could do all of this for her. Charlotte then laughs and tells Becky that she is welcome. Lynch then suddenly decks Charlotte with a single punch to the jaw. Lynch then goes to leave, but Charlotte goes out after her, blindsiding her and beating her down on the ramp. Lynch then fires back, throwing forearms until Flair throws her into the barricade and Road Agent Jamie Noble, 5-Time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce, Referee John Cone and several other referees pick them apart. They get back at each other and then get pulled apart again and then one more time before they finally separate. Lynch’s music hits as they have words.
We head backstage where Shinsuke Nakamura is shown admiring his United States Title, which he will have to defend against R-Truth right after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break and we are just in time for the entrances of The WWE United States Title Match.
R-Truth gets on the mic and says that this past Sunday he got jacked up at The Royal Rumble and thanks to Nia Jax he didn’t get his entry spot. Carmella then says that they fought hard for those spots and Truth deserved it. Truth then says that he doesn’t know how it happened, one minute he was rapping and the next he was napping and if Nia Jax hadn’t attacked he would have won the match, which The McMahons know and that is why he got this title match tonight.
Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. R-Truth: The WWE United States Title is on the line in this one. Carmella is at ringside. The opening bell starts and Nakamura starts with a flying kick to the face right out of the gate. Nakamura follows up with knee strikes and then a back suplex. Nakamura goes for the Kinshasa, but Truth reverses into a facebuster and Nakamura rolls outside for a breather. Back in the ring, Nakamura takes control again and hits several running knee strikes in the corner. Nakamura picks up Truth in the fireman’s carry position, but Truth escapes and rolls up Nakamura for the three count. Nakamura and R-Truth both look shocked. Winner & The New WWE United States Champion: R-Truth
After the match, Nakamura argues with the referee as there is some confusion. Truth is announced as the winner and The New WWE United States Champion. Carmella enters to celebrate with Truth and Nakamura can’t believe it. Rusev & Lana interrupt the celebration. Fan chant “Rusev Day!” now. Rusev says that none of this is right. He took the title from Nakamura previously because the title deserved better and if it deserved better than Nakamura then it definitely deserves better than Truth. Rusev then proposes that they have a match right now, if Truth isn’t too tired. Carmella & Lana argue. Carmella shoves Lana to the mat. Rusev & Truth face off in the middle of the ring. They shove each other. Truth grants Rusev the title shot.
We go to a commercial break before the match can begin.
Back from the commercial break and the match is underway.
R-Truth (c) vs. Rusev: The WWE United States Title is on the line in this one. Lana & Carmella are both at ringside. Rusev hits a kick to the face and takes control of this one early on. Rusev continues the offense, but then he misses a shot in the corner and crashes into the ring post. Truth immediately rolls up Rusev from behind for the three count to steal the win again. Winner & Still The WWE United States Champion: R-Truth
After the match, Shinsuke Nakamura drops R-Truth at ringside and rolls him back in. Rusev stares at R-Truth and starts stomping on him. Nakamura & Rusev double team R-Truth in the middle of the ring now. Rusev with a big Machka Kick while Nakamura hold R-Truth. Fans boo. Nakamura with a Kinshasa to R-Truth.
A recap of the opening segment follows. Becky Lynch is shown on her way out of the building when an interviewer rolls up. Lynch says that she is fine and isn’t going to spend anymore time on the shelf, which is why she turned down medical help. Lynch then hops in the SUV and drives off.
Rey Mysterio makes his entrance to send us to a commercial break.
Back from the commercial break and New WWE United States Champion R-Truth is being checked on by a medic but he refuses ice because he says that he is the champion.
Samoa Joe vs. Rey Mysterio: Before the match, Zelina Vega comes out and complains about Rey getting her barred from ringside for his previous match against Andrade. While she is talking, Andrade attacks Rey from behind and pummels on him. Andrade hits some suplexes, then Rey fights away and hits a kick to the head. Rey looks for the 619, but Andrade blocks it and puts the boots to Rey. Andrade follows up with the hammerlock DDT. Winner: No contest
Commentary hypes up some festivities and we go backstage with Rusev.
Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows roll up to ask Rusev what that was about and he says that he lost. Anderson then gives him & Nakamura crap for attacking R-Truth after he beat both of them, to which Rusev says that they should go back to catering. Karl then says that he & Shinsuke deserve each other and they wouldn’t fare as well if they got in the ring with them. Nakamura comes outta nowhere to accept the challenge.
The Best Tag Team in The World are shown walking backstage and Miz questions their celebration. Shane McMahon then says that it will be worth it and we go to a commercial break.
Back from the commercial break and we get a video package for The United States Premiere of Fighting With My Family.
The Best Tag Team in The World make their entrance. Shane McMahon soaks in chants for himself for a moment before the tide turns and Miz gets the chant and The A-Lister asks what the surprise is before saying that Phoenix is ready to party with The Tag Team Champions. Shane says that they don’t need confetti or streamers because what he has planned is bigger than this and on Sunday Miz helped him achieve a childhood dream.
McMahon then started thinking about how he could repay Miz and then it hit him. The one thing that he can do for him after tonight’s moment is that he will never forget it for the rest of his life. Miz then takes us on a little journey and while it has been weird it has been fun, so he had this put together and it is a video package of their relationship together. Shane then admits that he had trepidation at first and that is why he has been building to something special.
This is the one thing, the one motivational force that is a constant in his life, that makes Mike Mizanin do what tTe Miz does every day, so he has got Miz’s dad, George Mizanin here.
George makes his entrance decked out in the same kind of jersey they wore on Sunday when they won The Tag Team Titles and gets in the ring. Miz says that he was supposed to be on a flight this morning and Shane says that he called him here to be part of this. Mr. Mizanin has something to say and he tells Miz that he loves him and he is very proud of him. They hug and Shane shuffles around them in a celebratory manner.
Shane then says that he is emotional but they have business to attend to and he wants to figure out who they are going to defend against, so he booked a Four-Way Elimination Match for The #1 Contendership that starts right after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break and we get some hype for The Worlds Collide Tournament.
We head backstage where Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville are interviewed and they are entering The Elimination Chamber Match for The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Rose has her own announcement and says that it is not always easy being her and people are always trying to knock her down, people like Naomi. Mandy has some footage to explain why she has got a problem with Naomi and they air it, which is from Tough Enough back in 2015 with Team BAD running her down at the time.
Sonya then says that Rose hasn’t been the same since that day and you didn’t hear what Naomi said when the cameras were off, which she is not going to repeat and she made Mandy, who doesn’t cry, cry. Rose then says that she cried until she developed a complex so bad that her boyfriend left her. Rose then says that Naomi ruined her relationship, so she went after hers. Rose then says that it will never end, but for right now her mind is on The Elimination Chamber.

WWE Champion “The New” Daniel Bryan makes his entrance.
He asks if the crowd knows who won on Sunday, which earns him a resounding “Becky!” chant. Bryan then says that each and every one of them has also won and also their children and their children’s children. Bryan then says that we all won because he won and a victory for him is a victory for every sentient being on earth because he is The Planet’s Champion.
Bryan then says that he doesn’t expect us to understand what he is saying because none of us knows what winning actually feels like, but that is okay, because he ha found someone who understands the truth in what he says and that man came out to help on Sunday, not for him, but for the greater good and that man is none other than Rowan.
Bryan then asks what we see when we look at Rowan, saying that we see a mindless runt, but he spends his evenings reading Chaucer and yes his hands are dirty, but that is because he works with the dirt of the earth and Rowan is his intellectual peer. But even somebody as ignorant as AJ Styles is right sometimes and he is a hypocrite, because he carries the title belt around.
Rowan gets a trash can and Bryan asks if we see the title, saying that it is a symbol of excellence and also of excess. Bryan then says that it is gaudy, made from cheap labor and worst of all, bound to the skin of a cow whose life was taken from her. Bryan then says that he would like to give that cow a name and in his mind her name was Daisy. Bryan then says that Daisy had the ability to feel immense joy, which she didn’t get to feel much of in this life and also immense pain, which she did feel.
Bryan then says that Daisy was forced to give her life for this symbol and this symbol is the very thing that he and Rowan stand against. He throws the title in the garbage and calls it trash. He then says that we need a new symbol and asks Erick to pull it out and it is a hemp and woodgrain version of the title, decorated with bits of turquoise. He holds it aloft and starts to explain it.
AJ Styles makes his entrance. He says that he wasn’t gonna stand by while Bryan threw the title in the trash and asks if he smoked the prototype, which he says he did not. AJ then says that for somebody who doesn’t like big corporations he sure went and found a big insurance policy, but.
Randy Orton makes his entrance as we go to a commercial break.
Back from the commercial break and Mustafa Ali makes his entrance. He starts talking about what he has done but Orton reminds him that he was eliminated by a woman at The Rumble. Ali then responds but Samoa Joe’s music hits and out he comes to interrupt. Jeff Hardy is also in the ring. Joe says that he came to put a champion to sleep and the others should get out of his way. Joe then takes shots at Hardy and Ali. Bryan and Rowan go to the floor to watch as Joe enters. Joe gets in AJ’s face and AJ decks him. Orton drops Joe with the RKO. Bryan rants about how none of them will get a WWE Title shot. The brawl continues in the ring as Bryan rants about how he will be champion forever.
Triple H appears on the big screen and announces that Bryan will be defending The WWE Title against all of these Superstars inside The Elimination Chamber. Bryan throws a fit and a “yes!” chant starts up. Orton tosses Ali to the apron. Hardy unloads on Orton, then Ali unloads on Orton in the corner. Rowan and Bryan retreat. Ali tosses Hardy out. Joe fights AJ through the crowd. Orton drops Ali at ringside. Hardy is down against the barrier. Ali fights Orton up the ramp as Bryan and Rowan watch from the stage. Rowan charges Ali and Orton as SmackDown LIVE goes off the air.
